Health Care: Looking Outside the Box
Courage and Compassion

When I was a boy, I lived in a country where health care cost real money from
the pocket and not the tax payers. If I fell extremely ill with Para-typhoid or something, my mother would take me
to the doctor for an injection/vaccine that brought the fever down. For most illnesses such as colds or infections she boiled substantial amounts of
chamomile or thyme or fed us blossom water for stomach ailments. The following
mornings, would be fresh as the new spring air and the Jasmine blossoms of
March before Easter. Oh, how I loved to play outdoors, especially after the realization that wars
like Black September kept us hidden from the fresh air and sunshine of our
childhood. I was lucky to learn the true meaning of freedom and simple health.
Simplified health care is about the strength and courage required for survival; to cure ourselves and to weather
any storm that rages in the desert or the sea of our existence. I ask you to empower yourself with the strength and courage of human knowledge,
myth and intelligence. We are intelligent beings capable of asking questions, looking deep within
ourselves, learning from others and the natural world. Perhaps what makes us human is the fire or technology we invented; it is the
fire that burns within and the knowledge from experience, that propels us forward to survive and live healthfully.
We can learn humility and faith, the power of independent thought, the success
of practical science observation, trial and error, determination, prediction, and
synthesis of the factors and information all around us. We need to look outside
the box and question the system of health care and overall notions and ideas of
the world as we have been told. We can empower ourselves and our children to seek the knowledge and courage to
live healthier life styles and thrive.
Although successful for diagnosis, medical science has become increasingly
uni-linear, based on: pharmacology, surgery and limited physician/patient interaction.
Success in health is limited, unless one considers major factors - environmental, physiological, genetic, emotional, psychological, and spiritual.
It is verging on criminality to waste taxpayer money and energy on a decrepit
over- administered “sick care” system that perpetuates its own status-quo. “Madam: You are depressed or anxious; take a pill or two”; no time for counseling or investigation of all the factors and options. Kevin Trudeau's book Natural Cures They Don’t Want You to Know exposes this type of neglect or ignorance – Ignorance that is unsustainable.
Awaken, empower yourself, know yourself, ask questions, synthesize information,
and exercise your options. The health (care) system needs health counselors (synthesizers of information), and the accommodation of multiple modalities for cure. And let us add courage,
love and compassion in the way we treat ourselves and each other. A touch from another and a little look outside the noise and confusion will go a
long way.
